Paulina Poriskova has a magnificent presence others can only dream of having. Looking at her photos, there is the allure of Old Hollywood glamour. With her angular jawline, high cheekbones and flawless skin, you can’t help but stare. Yet, it is the strength you see in her deep green eyes, that leaves the strongest impression.

Paulina‘s life has been one of an action star mixed with a heavy dose of glamour. Fleeing her birthplace of Czechoslovakia at ten years old for Sweden during the Soviet invasion, it is here that she witnessed the varying perception and role of women. The power of sexuality, she saw in the female Swedes, proved a powerful tool that gave her confidence. Rather than being shy and meek, Paulina cleverly used her beauty and confidence to take her where she wanted to go.

Once, John Casablanca from Elite saw her pictures he flew her to Paris and gave her a contract. At just 15, Paulina quickly rose to become a top model in Paris during the early 1980s, and her fame spread to the United States when she appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1984 and again in 1985. Paulina became a global superstar & one of the elite few who is recognized simply by their first name.

In the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the mother of two participated in a female empowerment pictorial wearing nothing but body paint spelling the word “Truth.” It was Paulina’s 10th time in the 10th in the magazine & at 54, she’s the oldest “core girl” ever cast for the main spread. Paulina’s overnight success in modeling took her by surprise,“I thought everybody did covers when they first start modeling. I didn’t think there was anything amazing about it”.

Thinking of Paulina is sure to conjure a Cosmopolitan cover; having graced a record twenty six times. True to her ethos of self-empowerment, Paulina wrote on her Facebook page “I landed my first Cosmo cover when I was 17 year- old. Twenty-six covers later, I was a proud record holder.” Paulina, naturally was the cover model for the 20th Anniversary issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Porizkova was chosen twice by People as one of the Fifty Most Beautiful People In The World, in 1990 and 1992. Harper’s Bazaar named her one of its ten most beautiful women in 1992. American Photo in its first issue declared her to be the model of the 1980s. She appeared on the covers of numerous magazines around the world during the 1980s and 1990s, including Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Self, Cosmopolitan and Glamour.

Surprisingly, Paulina doesn’t like modeling. As Porizkova says, “I love the money and hate the job, but it isn’t very creative to stand in front of a camera all day.” Porizkova insists she has zero interest in fashion and hates shopping, except for makeup. “I think my newest outfit is three years old.”

In 1988, Porizkova received the highest-paying modeling contract: a six million dollar contract with Estée Lauder cosmetics. The black-and-white television and print advertising campaign was an instant success. Paulina was transformed from a swimsuit model to that of European sophisticate. Her launch of Estee Lauder’s “Knowing” perfume was the greatest launch in the brands history.

The magnitude of that Estee check afforded Paulina the freedom to pursue acting and writing. She successfully started in several films, “Anna”, “Thursday” and “Arizona Dream“. Most notably “Her Alibi” alongside Tom Selleck. Paulina has made her appearance on television with hits such as “America’s Next Top Model” and “Dancing with the Stars.”

It is hard to escape her exquisite beauty, but Paulina’s unforgettable aura is definitely not skin deep, she speaks four languages (French, Swedish, English as well as her native Czech), plays classical piano, paints and writes. To judge her just on her beauty would be a big mistake. Her book, “A Model Summer” garnered rave reviews. All this and she is the mother of two fine young men, Jonathan and Oliver.

My heart broke when I discovered Paulina was in love. “Yes, I am in love with Stephen Colbert.” She goes on about the host of the “Colbert Report” on Comedy Central. “Stephen’s my safe crush. I’m obviously very happily married, and he’s very happily married. But darn it, if it we weren’t. I’d be hanging out in his live audience every night.”

After Paulina’s divorce from Ric Ocasek, she has been showing A LOT of skin in her shoots. Stripping down seems to be just what Paulina needed. In the 2018 issue of ‘Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition’, Paulina was nude, except for body paint spelling ‘Truth’ for a female empowerment spread.

Lately, fashion has come around to mature models, from Christy Turlington Burns to Christie Brinkley. “I think we’re gimmicks, we’re tokens for now,” claims Porizkova. Fashion ……wants new, and it’s funny that we older models are now new.”

Paulina says she has hit the ‘dead zone’ in her career, which she explains as being in between J Lo looking fabulous & Betty White. ChanceTV has to disagree with Paulina on that note. With how incomparably stunning Paulina is, she will always be in demand and ALWAYS be “The First Supermodel.”
