Sharon Lia, released her hit single “The Sum of Us” on May 29th. This multi GRAMMY® considered artist from Philadelphia, released it on her site Sharonliaband.com as well as all digital platforms; iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, iHeart, etc… “The message I hope to impart,” Lia said, “is for us to realize our potential no matter what the darkness, whether it be mental, physical, financial, or spiritual, tries to extinguish in us, and give that light to others.”
“It is about the conflict within ourselves, the tragedy of giving up, the victory of rising when we fall, the symphony of realizing our potential, and the philosophy that every single one of us contributes to the sum of us all,” Lia explained. The song is being noted as a modern day, “We Are The World.” In fact, Deepak Chopra picked the single as top #ArtistPick on Spotify in the middle of the night the FIRST day it was released.
Last year, Sharon released her hit album entitled “Beyond Wonderland” which landed on the 2020 GRAMMY® Ballot for Best Rock Album of the Year. She describes her album in a single word, ROAR– Raw. Open. Authentic. Real. Sharon appeared in Billboard Magazine as well as winning the Josie Music Award for Best Artist of the Year. Not a bad year for this insanely talented, singer, songwriter & pianist.
“The Sum of Us“ was created while Sharon was battling with her own serious health issues. She began to write the song as she lay on a doctors table waiting for treatment. She thought, what if we all gave up, I gave up, you gave up, what would the world be? She also thought, if every single one contributed anything even the slightest thing, even a smile, how that may change a person’s life for the better. Sharon Lia, described the song as one about resilience and unity, adding that “It is an anthem of victory.” This incredible song was born in that waiting room.
“We started recording in 2019. During the final phase of production, the COVID-19 pandemic hit,” she said. “The ultimate symbolism unfolded. As the band and our guest vocalists hunkered down in our homes, we had to find creative ways to record and refine their vocals and get footage for our music video. We did it, though. The video may not have all the trappings of a Hollywood movie, but it has a Hollywood ending, full of love and feel good vibes. This effort is the quintessential example of “The Sum of Us.”
Sharon has recently been featured on WPHL Philadelphia, top morning shows all over the country on FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, CW, BELLA Magazine, Medium Magazine, Pop Culture Madness etc. She is also a Voting member of The Recording Academy (GRAMMY® Awards) calling the Philadelphia Chapter of the Recording Academy home.
Sharon is donating a portion of the song’s proceeds to her charitable organization, Ladies Who Rock For a Cause which Sharon created after her bout with cancer.

The Sharon Lia Band
The piano-driven, female-fronted rock/alternative rock/progressive pop band, which draws upon influences ranging from Florence and the Machine to Muse and Coldplay, started off playing the Philadelphia area and has performed at venues and festivals from New York to California. With Sharon’s powerhouse, octave-leaping vocals, textured piano melodies, and sometimes tender, sometimes gripping songwriting, Lia and the band captivate audiences during every show.
As the band’s success started soaring, Lia founded her charitable foundation, Ladies Who Rock 4 A Cause, a music-driven organization inspired by her battle with cancer. “I was overwhelmed by the radiation process, the big machines, and the coffee table war stories book about breast cancer.”
Lia said, “It has always been in my heart to help others. We hold events helping individuals in need and donate to charities. We’ve had many different bands perform, lots of volunteers, a great team, and so much goodwill. It’s incredible.”
Customers can “Name Your Own Price” for the single, “The Sum of Us” with a portion of the proceeds going to The Ladies Who Rock 4 A Cause.
